Record Collection of the Musicology Department

The record collection of the Institute of Musicology consists of different collections: The Dr. Andreas Fallscheer-Schlegel Foundation from Reutlingen with about 500 records (2015/16), the record collection of the University for Church Music from Tübingen with about 3150 records (2018) and the SWR donation with about 15 000 records (2019). Other smaller endowments as well as an in-house collection established since the institute's founding add about 1000 records to the inventory. All long-playing records play recordings from the field of European and European-inspired art music. They date back to a period from 1950 up until the replacement of the long-playing record by the CD from around the mid-1980s. The collection is used for research purposes, as is the university library's own extensive collection of long-playing records. One desideratum, for example, is the study of the design and texts of the record sleeves.
