Knights and Castles in the Echaz Valley

For several years, the University of Tübingen has been researching the interactions between castles, the nobility and the cultural landscape of the northern Swabian Alb region, in cooperation with the Landesamt für Denkmalpflege and various regional partners.

The special exhibition at the Museum of Ancient Cultures at Hohentübingen Castle from 25 July to 2 November 2025 presents the results of years of archaeological excavations. It focuses on the lesser-known medieval Stahleck Castle and the daily lives of those who lived and worked there. The presentation has been curated by the University of Tübingen, the Baden-Württemberg State Office for the Protection of Monuments, and the Collaborative Research Centre 1070 ResourceCultures.
