Historical Furniture Collection

The Historical Furniture Collection contains ensembles and individual pieces in various locations at the university and from different contexts and eras. These include, for example, the furnishings of the so-called “Rector's Room” in the Neue Aula. Its furniture originally came from the crown estate of the kings of Württemberg and was purchased by the university from Ludwigsburg Palace around the middle of the nineteenth century. One of the highlights of the furniture collection in terms of university history are certainly the two throne chairs. They were reserved for the kings of Württemberg and their spouses and placed under a canopy in the former ballroom of the Neue Aula (New University Assembly Hall). In 2021, they were restored and put up in the Small Senate of the University.
