Geographical Map Collection

The Geographical Map Collection of the University of Tübingen contains current map sets as well as historical rarities of the nineteenth century. Part of the collection, which focuses on southern Germany, was taken over from the Technical University of Stuttgart. The cultural, industrial, and ecological development of a landscape can be traced on the basis of old map material. Historical maps also document the respective state of the science of land surveying and are therefore important cultural records. Further parts of the Geographical Map Collection are the Wall Map Collection, the Aerial Photograph Collection, the Field Map Collection, the Atlas Collection, and the Atlas Archive. The holdings can be searched via the catalog of the Tübingen University Library.
