Collection of the Protestant Preachers Institute

The Preachers Institute of the Protestant Theology Faculty has maintained its seat in the castle church in Hohentübingen Castle since its foundation in 1815. Theology professor Jonathan Friedrich Bahnmaier (1774–1841) was the first to prepare theology candidates for their preaching, worship and teaching practice in the chapel and sacristy in a novel seminaristic-conservatory style.  At the interface of university, church, and society, the “spiritual polyclinic” was meant to provide prospective preachers and teachers of religion with a comprehensive practical theological education. To this day, courses of the Institute of Practical Theology are taught there. The collection of the Protestant Preachers Institute is simultaneously the church furnishings. It consists for instance of paintings of the eighteenth century and liturgical equipment used in worships.
