Botanical Gardens with Collections

Among the collections, the Botanical Garden has a special position, as living “objects” can be seen here. On ten hectares one can find almost 10,000 plant species from all over the world. The plants are arranged according to geographic, ecological, and relationship aspects.

Rhododendrons are a focal point, with about 75 cultivated forms and over 170 wild species. The systematic section – below the Tropicarium – shows the families of flowering plants based on their relationships. Above the North Ring, the Arboretum, a systematically arranged collection of woody plants, is located on five hectares. The greenhouses present the subtropical and tropical plant world on more than 3000 square meters. The Botanical Garden sees itself as a place of education as well as a meeting and recreation place for the urban population.
