Medical History Instrument Collection

The Medical Historical Instrument Collection consists of two sub-collections. The first is a collection from the practice of the physician Dr. Georg Kolb, who practiced in the districts of Tübingen and Reutlingen from 1934 to 1964. Among other things, an approximately 70-year-old leather doctor's bag contains dozens of historical medical instruments from the twentieth century. These metal instruments are mainly used for minor surgical procedures. Also among them are everyday utensils of a rural doctor's office that did not specialize in any particular field. Special tools, such as trepanation instruments (picture: trepanation drill), enrich the collection.

The medical items of the general practitioner and former chairman of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, Dr. Jörg G. Vogel, who studied in Tübingen in the 1960s, represent an independent and at the same time complementary collection.
