A Day in the Life of Seschemnefer

Based on a search game we will accompany the vizier Seschemnefer III.’s family on a day in the ancient Egypt 4500 years ago.

Babylonian School Day

How did the children learn to write 4000 years ago in Mesopotamian? Following a short presentation and a guided tour through the museum, the children can have a go at writing in the cuneiform.

Ancient Fables

The tour of the museum offers an insight into children’s clothing and toys in ancient Greece.  Ancient animal figures will be observed and fitting fables will be read aloud.

Hieroglyphic ABC

The meaning and the structure of the writing is explained and the spelling is learned. At the end each course member will be able to write his or her own name in hieroglyphics on a piece of real papyrus.

In the Roman Legion

This course is dedicated to the history and the construction of a Roman legion, the constant further development of the equipment and fighting techniques, and especially its soldiers.

Childhood in Antiquity

This course conveys an impression of childhood in ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome. By objects from the museum, the everyday life of a child 5000 years ago is brought to life.

Hydra, Medusa & Co.

The superhuman strength, cunning and support of the gods with which Heracles and Perseus were able to defeat the monsters is shown during the guided tour through the museum.

Ancient Fashion

This course is dedicated to an important aspect of the Greek and Roman everyday life:
the clothing. Even in antiquity different fashion trends and quality features existed which told a lot about the owner of the clothing.

Mummies & Co.

The development and the meaning of the ancient Egyptians’ belief in the beyond is made vivid and plausible through the visit to the chamber of sacrifices, the look at coffins, statues of gods, ushebtis and amulets.

The robbery of the beautiful Helena led kings and heroes of the Greeks to fight for the wealthy city of Troy. How did the warriors live during the ten-year long siege time and with what did they occupy themselves in the lull in the fighting?
