Research & Education
Scientific collections play a vital role in the research infrastructure of universities. Research and teaching, in conjunction with outreach to the general public, are key responsibilities of the Museum of the University of Tübingen MUT. This includes the integration of individual collections ino the university's internal research and teaching programmes as well as creating accessibility for external scientists from German and international research institutions. In this capacity, the Museum of the University of Tübingen is actively involved in numerious projects relating to museum and collection research and maintains a national and international network with museums and collections at and outside of universities. Multiple in-house puvblication series ensure that objects, methodological considerations and scientific historical findings are readily available to the research community and public.
The following pages provide an overview of active projects, including the MUT's provenance research department – which has developed to meet the field's increasing importance in recent years – and Master's programme ‘Museum & Collections’.
