Sculpture Collection of the University

The exterior and interior spaces of the University were often decorated with sculptural works of art in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. They depict poets and thinkers, princes, queens and kings, patrons and donors, researchers and founders of institutes, as well as allegories and memorials, and copies based on ancient works of art. This tradition of installing works of art continues into the present day. In the context of new institute buildings and research facilities, the state repeatedly commissions contemporary artists whose works establish aesthetic-sensual as well as thematic references to the task and function of the building.
