550 Years of the University of Tübingen: To celebrate this major anniversary, the new university app invites users on a multimedia journey of discovery through science, history, art, and culture.

Since its founding in 1477, the University of Tübingen (Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen) has left its mark in many ways: in historic buildings, scientific collections, works of art, and places of significant discoveries. The new app “Discover the University of Tübingen” makes these diverse testimonies to the university’s past and present accessible in a unique way.

Designed and curated by the University of Tübingen’s Museum (MUT), the app guides visitors as they explore the university and the city. An interactive map leads to important sites, museums, collections, and works of art. Themed tours invite users to see familiar landmarks from a new perspective, uncover hidden stories, and encounter the people who have shaped the university.

Images, texts, and multimedia content offer unusual perspectives on 550 years of scientific history. At the same time, the app highlights that a university is much more than its past: it is a vibrant place of research, exchange, and new ideas.

Under the anniversary motto “The Value of Science,” the app connects past and present, inviting users to explore the university from a variety of perspectives. As a continuously expanding resource, it will continue to offer new insights beyond the anniversary year.
