The Pianoforte Age
Music and Modernity Before the Modern Piano
Instrumental studies have long been a key focus of the Institute of Musicology. In addition to its own collection of wind instruments (the Dr. h.c. Karl Ventzke Foundation and Collection), which is on permanent display in the foyer of the Pfleghof, the Institute uses historical keyboard instruments for teaching purposes. A project seminar led by Tübingen phD student Anders Muskens has resulted in an exhibition that sheds new light on the harpsichords, table pianos and fortepianos held by the Institute, alongside instruments from Anders Muskens’s private collection.
At the exhibition opening, curator Anders Muskens will, as usual, give an insightful talk and perform with great sensitivity. The exhibition will remain open until September. This summer, the accompanying programme for the exhibition also features the continuation of the event series Tübingen Fortepiano Days
