Friends of the Museum
The Museum of Ancient Cultures | Collections in Hohentübingen Castle can be your museum, too: Since 1998, the Association of Friends (Verein der Freunde) of the Museum in Hohentübingen Castle funds the museum-educational and scientific work in the museum.
The Association
It enables museum-educational offers in the museum through a provision of necessary display and work material. It funds special exhibitions, in order to present the magazine inventory of the museum to a wider public through new perspectives. It supports acquisition and development of new presentation forms and media, so as to increase the attractiveness of the permanent exhibition. It also participates in the publication of the exponents through financial support of exhibition catalogues and collection brochures.
Through an active association work, the association would also like to encourage private collectors to continue the century-old tradition of foundations at the university.
Its Advantages
Our members have free admission to all departments of the museum, they take part in several tour offers free of charge and are personally invited to special events. In addition, the association provides a glimpse behind the scenes of the museum. It offers insight into the individual collections and allows an up close experience of the work on special exhibitions.
Association trips present numerous museums of Southern Germany, and alongside an exclusive tour program, for example the summer presentations by the Classical Archaeology, the general meeting also offers each one a special thematic highlight.
A compilation of all treasures of the month presented in the museum is sent to the association members free of charge at the end of the year.
The Executive Board
The executive board of the association is made up of three members who are voted for by the general association for the duration of two years. As a member of the advisory board.
Gunter Sieglin: Chairman of the Board since 2019
Hartmut Kilger: Deputy Chairman and Secretary of the Association
Jörg Textor: Treasurer of the association
