Work Contemplation in front of Sculptures with Artistic Practice
Gormley’s works, in comparison with those by the ancient masters, offer many starting points for a conversation about the handling of the body, its artistic language and the human image of the respective artist as well as its era. How is the human body formed? Which aura surrounds the object and how is its plasticity perceived? In addition to the decided work contemplation, one’s opportunity exists to approach art practically in a drawing exercise. The members are, in the case of the exact study of the ancient sculptures, invited to trace their forms and their expression, and explore the ratio between figure and abstraction.
