Work Contemplation in front of Sculptures with Artistic Practice plus Guided Tour of the Museum
In a tour, Gormley’s artworks and the artworks of antiquity are placed in relation to further exhibits of the Collection of Ancient Cultures: starting with the Ice Age figures recovered in the Vogelherd cave, through examples of Greek small sculptures, such as the famous Tübingen armorer, and figurative representations from the Oriental region, the development of the figurative art can be traced back all the way to its beginnings. Which changes can be seen? What kind of influences are visible? By looking back on the history of mankind, new perspectives for the contemplation of Antony Gormley’s art arise which flow into the discussion of the work and into a drawing exercise which takes place in front of originals.
