Collection of the Older Prehistory

The Collection of the Older Prehistory includes significant finds from the beginning of the history of mankind. A special focus is put on the objects from the Palaeolithic which were found in caves of the Swabian Alb. The excavations carried out by Gustav Riek in 1931 have lead to the discovery of several ivory figures which were hidden in 40 000-year old layers. They are among the oldest artworks in the world.
